#5 — Supernatural Special: Wayward #1 — Dynamite Entertainment

Supernatural: Wayward Special #1 puts Sam and Dean Winchester at a major crossroads, with Dynamite teasing the mysterious forces powerful enough to send the brothers down separate paths and positioning the 48-page one-shot as setup for a larger event. Rather than concentrating solely on giant-monster spectacle, the story follows Felipe and his classmates as they attempt to rescue his mother from a wrecked subway station, placing ordinary people and affected communities at the center of the catastrophe. #3 — Hellraiser: Resurrections – New Wounds #1 — BOOM! Studios

Hellraiser: Resurrections – New Wounds #1 marks the beginning of a substantial new era for Clive Barker's horror franchise, launching a sequence of five interconnected one-shots that will lead directly into a new ongoing Hellraiser series this winter. Writer Mike Costa and artist Paco Camallonga begin with an investigation into the Puzzle Box that opens the gates of Hell, with the story moving from Rio de Janeiro's criminal underworld to Europe's wealthy elite while teasing secrets that will matter to the upcoming series. #2 — Archie #1 — Oni Press / Archie Comics

This isn't simply another Archie relaunch: Archie #1 begins a new publishing era as Oni Press and Archie Comics reintroduce Riverdale ahead of Archie's 85th anniversary. Writer Ben H. Winters and multiple Eisner Award winner Fábio Moon take 17-year-old Archie Andrews through a story involving Riverdale's past, present and future, with a mysterious paradox that Jughead may be uniquely equipped to unravel. Warbird #1 launches an original action/espionage property from John Wick creator Derek Kolstad and Robert Venditti, with Eisner-winning artist Alex Maleev, Esad Ribić, Dean White and character designs by Frank Quitely assembling an unusually high-powered creative lineup. The story introduces Cole, an elite repo man hired for an impossible $140 million job: steal one of three experimental $1.4-billion fighter jets assembled from stolen international military technology and destroy the remaining two. BAD IDEA has treated the launch like an event, promoting it at San Diego Comic-Con with a special Warbird #0, offering a deep cover lineup featuring Maleev, Quitely, Michael Cho, J.G.
