#5 — Hillbilly: The Treason of Twelve-Toe Maggie #1 — Dark Horse Comics

Eric Powell returns to his Appalachian dark-fantasy world with a brand-new three-issue Hillbilly arc starring Rondel, the wandering wielder of the Devil's Cleaver. Set years after the Great Witch War, Rondel is forced into the service of his former captor, Twelve-Toe Maggie, while attempting to save an old friend and escape the magical bond holding him to the witch. #2 — Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hunger #1 — IDW Publishing

IDW's The City That Never Dies storyline produces a potentially significant TMNT one-shot as Hun returns from the dead, determined to reclaim leadership of the Purple Dragons and resume the violent legacy that made him one of Casey Jones' most personal enemies. Writer Paul Allor and artist Gavin Smith counter Hun's resurrection with two other major returns from Battle Nexus—Slash and Ninjara—putting three fan-favorite characters onto a collision course that could reshape New York's criminal landscape. Allor has indicated that the team was allowed to take some unusually large storytelling swings, making The Hunger worth watching for more than simply its returning characters.

Syg the White Hart and his heretical friend Markus travel toward Akva at the center of the universe in hopes of preventing its collapse, while opposing forces attempt to awaken the God Machine of Ordo and trigger the next science cycle—and the downfall of magic. What's Buzzing This Week?

• 🌎 World-building takes center stage — Three Worlds / Three Moons: Shift #1 isn't simply another new #1; Hickman and del Mundo are revealing foundational history involving Syg, Markus, Akva and the God Machine of Ordo. With Dark Horse now bringing 3W3M to traditional comic shops, this is a universe worth monitoring from the ground floor.

• 🐢 Character returns could create the week's biggest key developments — TMNT: The Hunger brings Hun, Slash and Ninjara into the same story, with Hun returning from the dead and looking to retake the Purple Dragons. What happens to those characters—and whether the consequences spill into the larger TMNT universe—is the collector angle to watch.

• ⛓️ Hellraiser: Resurrections reaches its most important bridge point — After specials centered on different corners of Hell's mythology, The Return of the Priest brings the focus back to Pinhead and has him rebuilding himself and his Gash.
