#5 — ThunderCats: Cheetara #1 — Dynamite Entertainment

ThunderCats: Cheetara #1 launches a bold new chapter for one of the franchise's most popular characters, with Eisner-winning writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Andrea Arcari sending Cheetara on a dangerous journey driven by mysterious voices that contradict the Book of Omens and seemingly praise the Mu'Tants. The debut is particularly notable because it launches ahead of Dynamite's larger ThunderCats relaunch, positioning Cheetara's story near the beginning of the franchise's next publishing era. Dynamite is also leaning heavily into the collector market with numerous covers and a limited Premium Mystery Blind Bag containing three randomly selected variants.

#4 — Hellraiser: Resurrections – The Onanistic Ritual #1 — BOOM! Studios

The second chapter of Hellraiser: Resurrections turns its attention toward the Chatterer, with writer Zac Thompson and artist Gavin Mitchell giving the fan-favorite Cenobite a new mission to reclaim his position beside the Hell Priest. The story introduces Mark, a young man whose obsession with physical perfection leads him to a vintage film apparently depicting the Chatterer's creation—and ultimately to the terrible idea of summoning the Cenobite to punish those he believes wronged him. #3 — The Forever Home #1 — Oni Press

Christian Ward and Sami Kivelä launch a six-issue science-fiction thriller about billionaire scientist Henry D'mour, who fails to save Earth but succeeds in constructing an extraordinary refuge for himself, his wife, and their children where only 20 minutes pass inside for every year outside. That sanctuary becomes a nightmare when a childish mistake compromises its barrier and whatever has been waiting through the passing eons finally gets an opportunity to come inside. Ward has called The Forever Home one of the books he's most proud of in two decades of making comics, while Oni is backing the debut with foil and incentive editions reaching 1:50.

This is my sleeper pick of the five. It doesn't have the built-in fandom of ThunderCats, Hellraiser, or Star Trek, but that's exactly what makes an original #1 like this compelling—if Ward and Kivelä deliver on the premise, collectors are starting at the absolute ground floor.

#2 — Star Trek: 60th Anniversary Special #1 — IDW Publishing

IDW celebrates six decades of Star Trek with a hefty 68-page anthology spanning multiple eras of the franchise and featuring creators including Brian Michael Bendis, Christopher Cantwell, David Walker, Ryan North, Meghan Camarena, Mike McMahan, Derek Charm, Michael Allred and Laura Allred. Its seven stories reach across The Original Series, The Animated Series, Lower Decks, Picard, and Starfleet Academy, making the special as much a celebration of Trek history as a conventional comic release. The biggest collector hook may be at the end: the book contains a preview of IDW's new flagship Star Trek series, giving this anniversary special a direct connection to the franchise's next comic-book era.
